The Bay of Promise on the coastline of Maine is an ongoing focal point of a battle between the forces of heaven and hell. WALTER TUNSTALL’s ancestors have safeguarded controversial relics from Jesus’ time. After the American Revolution, Walter created a safe haven for the relics in a cave on the Bay of Promise feeling that the new nation’s position on separation of church and state had finally offered some degree of protection for them. He learns, however, that the Holy Roman Church, which has never stopped hunting for the relics, will stop at nothing to keep them from the public eye.
RAPHAEL “RAFE” MONTPEZAT visits Walter to collect correspondence concerning the whereabouts of the relics to deliver to Walter’s relatives. ANTONIO BOTELLI, an emissary of the church, follows him and lays an ambush. Botelli slays Rafe and steals the correspondence. When Walter finds Rafe’s body, he tracks Botelli to the hiding place. Walter and Botelli kill one another in the ensuing altercation. No one alive now knows where the relics are hidden.
In present time, Walter's descendent, HOWARD TUNSTALL, invites artist ANDREA SUTTON to stay in Walter’s home on the Bay of Promise. The property caretaker, GEORGE MACKENZIE, and his golden retriever sidekick, Morton, soon become entangled along with Andrea in the spiritual battle going on at the property. Walter’s spirit is intent on helping Andrea discover the location of the hidden relics. Botelli’s spirit is just as determined to keep them from ever being found.
MAJOR CHARACTER SYNOPSIS
ANDREA SUTTON, 28, with flowing auburn hair, has an air of the well-bred and privileged. A friend of Howard Tunstall's, she is an artist seeking a quiet place for a vacation. He invites her to stay at his ancestor Walter Tunstall's cottage on the Bay of Promise. She is soon engaged by rival ghosts - one wanting to get a message across to her to save a precious treasure before the ocean claims it forever and one who is intent on keeping it a secret. Upon meeting caretaker George MacKenzie, she is uncomfortable at their differences but over time comes to trust him with her life and her heart.
And her counterpart in the 18th century - CONSTANCE DURHAM, a lovely noblewoman, is betrothed to Walter Tunstall. Their families have been the caretakers of ancient relics dating back to the times of Jesus. These writings are in constant danger from authorities of the church who do not wish to have the information exposed as it would contradict the dogma that has been accepted for centuries.
GEORGE MACKENZIE, 35, has a strong physique and riveting eyes. He is lighthearted and loves being on the water in his Grady White fishing vessel with his best friend and constant companion, his golden retriever Morton. As the caretaker of the Tunstall property, George makes it his responsibility to protect Andrea.
And his counterpart in the 18th century - RAPHAEL "RAFE" MONTPEZAT, 30's, is dashing with long dark wavy hair and a roguish moustache. He always dresses richly and exudes polished nobility, but mischief twinkles in his eyes. He has been forced to live as a pirate in order to accomplish the mission of safeguarding the relics.
HOWARD TUNSTALL is a well-dressed aging gentleman with gentle, sparkling eyes and a quiet thoughtful manner. He is a descendant of the Tunstall family and the present owner of Walter's cottage and lighthouse.
And his counterpart in the 18th century - HADLEY is a stately middle-aged butler with a pleasant disposition and eyes full of wisdom.
WALTER TUNSTALL, 40's, is a serious man of the 18th century (and a ghost in the present) with chiseled features and noble poise. He has made it his mission to secure a safe place on the northeastern shores of Colonial America to see that the relics are brought there for their protection. He is betrothed to Constance Durham.
ANTONIO "THE CHAMELEON" BOTELLI, 30's, is a well-kempt, malicious spy for the church in the 18th century (and a ghost in the present). He dresses elegantly and wears a prominent gold ring with an inset ruby. He believes it is his sacred duty to protect the dictates of church dogma and keep any information that conflicts with it away from the eyes of the public. He is willing to go to any lengths to do so.
